Full description:

Can you think from the perspective of both farmers and corporate sustainability managers? Do you want to deepen your knowledge on regenerative agriculture? Do you get a kick from finding the sweet spot between positive impact and profitability? And are you driven to understand how sustainable agriculture projects develop and scale up? Then you might be the next addition to our growing team!

reNature’s goal is to make regenerative agroforestry mainstream. To reach this, we collaborate with a growing number of farmers and organizations worldwide that want to drive the transition towards regenerative farming systems. reNature’s aim is to help these organizations, farmers, and communities, to realize net-positive impacts in environmental, social, and economic domains. We do this by connecting promising projects to the required resources, such as expert knowledge (farmers, scientists), funding, and off-takers, creating the conditions for success and scale.

We work as a team of driven, proactive, and independent people that take responsibility for the quality of their own work, as well as that of the team as a whole. We think in opportunities, and have a strong sense of conducting business ethically. And whilst we work hard, we have fun and love doing what we do.

So what are we looking for?

In this position you need to combine hands-on experience with business development and project management; working with the guidance of the European and African Portfolio Managers, and collaborating with our group of Project Managers.

Your role will be, with guidance from peers and senior colleagues, to take responsibility for daily project management, including: daily contact with project partners (from farmers to executives), maintaining and forecasting budgets and plannings, forging stronger relationships with relevant stakeholders, developing and ensuring quality of deliverables, and proactive communication on project performance. We expect you to perform this role with proactiveness, positive energy, structure, and attention to detail.

Additionally, you will support business development in the African and European portfolios by leading or supporting on meetings with potential project owners, farmers, companies, and investors; getting to the ‘question behind the question’ and understanding how we can help our clients and beneficiaries; examine new project submissions; critically review company or investor strategies, as well as new market opportunities, and threats; making contributions to the creation of content for reNature’s network; supporting or leading the development of proposals that include a realistic timeline, exact budget, and a clear scope & deliverables; and deploy your network to scout business opportunities. We expect you to develop a knack for seeing real opportunities that can become reality soon, follow up structurally and with sustained effort, and ensure stay close to the company’s mission and business targets.

We have our own ideas about organization that are far away from the traditional hierarchical pyramid. At reNature, pro-active individuals and self-steering teams take the majority of decisions, and receive the freedom and trust to take responsibility. We’re a flexible organization that relies heavily on digital tools and continuous improvement of our way of working (by all team members). Throughout your work, you will need to be flexible and comfortable with uncertainty and newness, and proactively provide structure.

Affinity with regenerative agriculture from the field will be greatly valued for this position; as is the ability to understand the realities of farmers & communities, disenfranchised groups, and the different farmer archetypes from rural subsistence to large-scale mechanized farming.
